Gun violence has deeply impacted our family and forever changed our lives. My daughter was murdered, and there are no words that can truly describe the pain and emptiness left behind. Losing her to such a senseless act shattered not only our family, but also our sense of safety, peace, and normalcy.

Since her death, our days have been filled with grief, anger, heartbreak, and unanswered questions. Simple things — seeing her favorite places, hearing her friends laugh, or looking at old photographs — bring both comfort and pain. Our home feels incomplete. Her laughter, once the heart of our family, is now a memory we hold onto tightly.

Every day we struggle with the reality that we will never see her grow older, continue her athletic journey, fulfill her dreams, or build a family of her own.

The emotional toll has been overwhelming. We have sought counseling, prayer, and community support to help us cope, but the absence of our daughter is a wound that will never fully heal. Gun violence does not only take one life — it sends shockwaves through entire families, schools, teams, friendships, and communities.

We share our story not only from a place of pain, but from a place of purpose and hope. Hope that by speaking out, awareness can grow, healing can begin, and meaningful change can happen so that no other family has to endure this unimaginable loss.

My daughter’s life mattered. Every life taken by gun violence matters. We must continue to honor them through compassion, action, advocacy, and support for the families left behind.
